少年与犬

　　The Doll is an adaptation of the novel, The Doll (novel) by Bolesław Prus, which is regarded by many as one of the finest Polish novels ever written and, along with Pharaoh (novel), made Bolesław Prus a potential candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature. The influence of Émile Zola is evident, and some have compared the novel to Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert; both were Prus&♯39;s contemporaries. The movie, however, may be more compared to Stendhal&♯39;s Le Rouge et le Noir, (The Red and the Black).
　　The Doll constitutes a panorama of life in Warsaw between 1878 and 1879, and at the same time is a subtle story of three generations of Polish idealists, their psychological complications, their involvement in the history of the nineteenth century, social dramas, moral problems and the experience of tragic existence. At the same time this story describes the disintegration of social relationships and the growing separation of a society whose aristocratic elite spreads the models of vanity and idleness. In the bad air of a backward country, anti-Semitic ideas are born, valuable individuals meet obstacles on their way, and scoundrels are successful.
　　This poetic love story follows a nouveau riche merchant, Stanislaw Wokulski, through a series of trials and tribulations occasioned by his obsessive passion for an aristocratic beauty, Izabela Lecka, played by the famous Polish actress, Beata Tyszkiewicz.
　　Plot:
　　As a descendant of an impoverished Polish noble family, young Wokulski is forced to work as a waiter at Hopfer&♯39;s, a Warsaw restaurant, while dreaming of a life in science. After taking part in the failed 1863 Uprising against Tsarist Russia, he is sentenced to exile in Siberia. On eventual return to Warsaw, he becomes a salesman at Mincel&♯39;s haberdashery. Marrying the late owner&♯39;s widow (who eventually dies), he comes into money and uses it to set up a partnership with a Russian merchant he had met while in exile. The two merchants go to Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, and Wokulski makes a fortune supplying the Russian Army. The enterprising Wokulski now proves a romantic at heart, falling in love with Izabela, daughter of the vacuous, bankrupt aristocrat, Tomasz Łęcki. In his quest to win Izabela, Wokulski begins frequenting theatres and aristocratic salons; and to help her financially distressed father, founds a company and sets the aristocrats up as shareholders in his business.The indolence of these aristocrats, who secure with their pensions, are too lazy to undertake new business risks, frustrates Wokulski. His ability to make money is respected but his lack of family and social rank is condescended to. Because of his "help" (in secret) to Izabela&♯39;s impecunious but influential father, the girl becomes aware of his affection. In the end she consents to accept him, but without true devotion or love.(wikipedia)

　　When the single middle-aged Luis travels from Barcelona to bury the remains of his mother in the vault of his family in Segovia, he is lodged by his aunt Pilar in her old house where he spent his summer of 1936 with her. He meets his cousin Angelica, who was his first love, living on the first floor with her husband and daughter, and he recalls his childhood in times of the Spanish Civil War entwined with the present.

　　American psychologist John Holden arrives in London to participate in a symposium aiming to expose witchcraft and devil-worship as a fraud, with attention centered on a cult run by a Julian Karswell. Debarking his plane, Holden learns that the symposium leader, Henry Harrington, has suddenly died and he is now in charge. What only the audience knows is that Harrington was clearly killed by a demon, apparently summoned by Karswell to avenge his persecution. Despite both threatening and cajoling behavior by Karswell, Holden determines to proceed, though the only cult member willing to talk about his experiences is in a prison psychiatric ward, catatonic after allegedly killing yet another cult member. However, Harrington&♯39;s niece, Joanna, believes, based on her uncle&♯39;s notes, that Karswell may indeed have some satanic powers derived from an ancient tome in an obscure language which he has been able to translate, and attempts to warn the skeptic Holden. Karswell&♯39;s mother also attempts to warn Holden off. However, the thing which begins to most get to Holden are the occasional, but mounting, sensory and mental disturbances he begins experiencing after an encounter with Karswell, and the discovery that, during this encounter, Karswell secretly slipped a slip of parchment with a curse in runic symbols on it into Holden&♯39;s belongings, a parchment identical to one Harrington recorded having had passed to him in a similar manner shortly before his death... 　　When William Gridley arrives from the US in London, he rents part of Carly Hardwicke&♯39;s house from her and promptly begins to fall in love. Gridley doesn&♯39;t know that many people think she killed her husband but his boss, the American ambassador, knows and doesn&♯39;t take this "lapse of judgement" lightly. Since Carly is also American, Gridley saves his job by introducing her to the ambassador, who is promptly smitten and promises to help her. So when a Scotland Yard detective arrives, wanting to get to the truth one way or another, they say they&♯39;ll help him. And then the comedic complications really begin.

　　Ukrainian surgeon Serhiy is captured by the Russian military forces in the conflict zone in Eastern Ukraine and while in captivity, he is exposed to horrifying scenes of humiliation, violence and indifference towards human life. After his release, he returns to his comfortable middle-class apartment and tries to find a purpose in life by rebuilding his relationship with his daughter and ex-wife. He learns how to be a human being again, how to be a father and help his daughter, who needs his love and support.

　　新宿歌舞伎町を舞台にした東京アンダーグラウンド系アクションエンターテインメント作品。2部作で公開する。まだどことなくあどけなさが残る少女、千鶴と美音が「解決屋」の事務所へとやってきた。千鶴は援交グループ「JKC」のリーダーで、援助交際をする少女たちを束ねて大金を稼いでいた。しかし、街のチンピラにみかじめ料を要求され、脅されているという。「250万円の解決料」が払えるんだったら依頼を受けてもいいと言う黒斗。「たったそれだけで助けてくれんの？」千鶴が美音の背負っているカバンを開くと、一千万円以上の大金が入っていた。即金で250万円を渡す千鶴。呆れながらも千鶴の依頼を引き受け、みかじめ料を要求してきたチンピラたちの調査を始める解決屋。簡単に依頼を解決したかと思ったが、事件の裏には思いもよらぬ事実が待ち受けていた…。

　　昭和初年，私家偵探魚塚被一老婦人委託調查被綁架女兒的下落。偵探追查下去，卻發現事件和一部消失了的電影《永遠的謎》有關，這部電影比號稱日本最早起用女性演員，歸山敎正的《生之光輝》更早有女演員表演，但被警察禁映而消失。鏡頭跟著主角深入淺草的遊樂區，探索默片年代的戲院，解說的辯士、現場配樂的樂隊、放映前的雜耍表演，當年的電影是很「綜合」的娛樂…… 完全和電影業無關的新人導演林海象一鳴驚人的處女作，比《星光夢裏人》早近三十年採用仿默片的拍法，全部黑白攝影，人物對白全部用字幕卡代替，聲軌只有配樂、效果音等，引領觀眾暢遊世紀初的夢工場。
