　　The Doll is an adaptation of the novel, The Doll (novel) by Bolesław Prus, which is regarded by many as one of the finest Polish novels ever written and, along with Pharaoh (novel), made Bolesław Prus a potential candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature. The influence of Émile Zola is evident, and some have compared the novel to Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert; both were Prus&♯39;s contemporaries. The movie, however, may be more compared to Stendhal&♯39;s Le Rouge et le Noir, (The Red and the Black).
　　The Doll constitutes a panorama of life in Warsaw between 1878 and 1879, and at the same time is a subtle story of three generations of Polish idealists, their psychological complications, their involvement in the history of the nineteenth century, social dramas, moral problems and the experience of tragic existence. At the same time this story describes the disintegration of social relationships and the growing separation of a society whose aristocratic elite spreads the models of vanity and idleness. In the bad air of a backward country, anti-Semitic ideas are born, valuable individuals meet obstacles on their way, and scoundrels are successful.
　　This poetic love story follows a nouveau riche merchant, Stanislaw Wokulski, through a series of trials and tribulations occasioned by his obsessive passion for an aristocratic beauty, Izabela Lecka, played by the famous Polish actress, Beata Tyszkiewicz.
　　Plot:
　　As a descendant of an impoverished Polish noble family, young Wokulski is forced to work as a waiter at Hopfer&♯39;s, a Warsaw restaurant, while dreaming of a life in science. After taking part in the failed 1863 Uprising against Tsarist Russia, he is sentenced to exile in Siberia. On eventual return to Warsaw, he becomes a salesman at Mincel&♯39;s haberdashery. Marrying the late owner&♯39;s widow (who eventually dies), he comes into money and uses it to set up a partnership with a Russian merchant he had met while in exile. The two merchants go to Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, and Wokulski makes a fortune supplying the Russian Army. The enterprising Wokulski now proves a romantic at heart, falling in love with Izabela, daughter of the vacuous, bankrupt aristocrat, Tomasz Łęcki. In his quest to win Izabela, Wokulski begins frequenting theatres and aristocratic salons; and to help her financially distressed father, founds a company and sets the aristocrats up as shareholders in his business.The indolence of these aristocrats, who secure with their pensions, are too lazy to undertake new business risks, frustrates Wokulski. His ability to make money is respected but his lack of family and social rank is condescended to. Because of his "help" (in secret) to Izabela&♯39;s impecunious but influential father, the girl becomes aware of his affection. In the end she consents to accept him, but without true devotion or love.(wikipedia)

　　小偷林田义助曾四次被捕入狱。一天他在温泉认识了女招待桃子并与之同居，还把偷来的东西送给她，却因事情败露被警察安东抓获。在被保释出来后又去偷仓库的晚上，义助碰上了九个大个子男人。第二天附近的车站发生了火车脱轨事件，义助作为嫌疑犯再次入狱。在狱中他见到了被称为是制造火车脱轨事件的三名犯人，但三人均不承认是其所为，这引起义助对那九个大个子男人的怀疑。出狱之后义助决定重新做人，认识了阿花并与之结婚，只是并没有告诉阿花自己的过去。律师藤本请义助做火车脱轨事件的目击证人，安东却威胁义助如不按照警方的话去做就抖出他的前科。为了三名无辜者义助决定实话实说。安东当众揭短，义助仍然将当晚之事向法庭作了真实的陈述……
　　故事根据1961年的“松川事件”内部素材改编。这是一部充满喜剧色彩的影片，非常辛辣地对警察当局的虚伪进行了讽刺，当然最重要的还是刻划了义助这个虽有多次小偷前科但仍然不失善良本性的人物形象。导演山本萨夫因敢于大胆揭露日本政界、财界上层人物的内幕而被称为社会派大师，是首创独立制片并坚持自己信念的少数几个导演之一。影片曾获1965年《电影旬报》十佳奖第四名。

　　American psychologist John Holden arrives in London to participate in a symposium aiming to expose witchcraft and devil-worship as a fraud, with attention centered on a cult run by a Julian Karswell. Debarking his plane, Holden learns that the symposium leader, Henry Harrington, has suddenly died and he is now in charge. What only the audience knows is that Harrington was clearly killed by a demon, apparently summoned by Karswell to avenge his persecution. Despite both threatening and cajoling behavior by Karswell, Holden determines to proceed, though the only cult member willing to talk about his experiences is in a prison psychiatric ward, catatonic after allegedly killing yet another cult member. However, Harrington&♯39;s niece, Joanna, believes, based on her uncle&♯39;s notes, that Karswell may indeed have some satanic powers derived from an ancient tome in an obscure language which he has been able to translate, and attempts to warn the skeptic Holden. Karswell&♯39;s mother also attempts to warn Holden off. However, the thing which begins to most get to Holden are the occasional, but mounting, sensory and mental disturbances he begins experiencing after an encounter with Karswell, and the discovery that, during this encounter, Karswell secretly slipped a slip of parchment with a curse in runic symbols on it into Holden&♯39;s belongings, a parchment identical to one Harrington recorded having had passed to him in a similar manner shortly before his death... 　　Schultze gets the blues里除了敦厚的Schultze和他的手风琴，还有Keramikzwerger(瓷矮人)，真的是很可爱的一部电影。弥漫着一股慢悠悠的田园气息，不慌不忙，对于退休老人来说，他拥有“世界所有的时间”(die Zeit aller Welt)。虽然总是一片灰蒙蒙的天空，错落有致的音乐贯穿始终，观众尽管看不见，却能感受到一角蓝天。外表虽然如德国电影一贯的冷静，却掩盖不了蠢蠢的热情。

　　In 1661 Mexico, the Baron Vitelius of Astara is sentenced to be burned alive by the Holy Inquisition of Mexico for witchcraft, necromancy, and other crimes. As he dies, the Baron swears vengeance against the descendants of the Inquisitors. 300 years later, a comet that was passing overhead on the night of the Baron’s execution returns to earth, bringing with it the Baron in the form of a horrible, brain-eating monster that terrorizes the Inquisitor’s descendants.
